Morocco takes part in 3rd summit on nuclear safety in The Hague

Rabat - Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar is taking part this March 24-25 in the Hague in the 3rd summit of nuclear safety, together with 53 heads of state and government, and heads of four international organizations (UNO, EU, International Atomic Energy Agency and INTERPOL).

The Moroccan delegation also includes energy, mines, environment and water minister Abdelkader Amara, Morocco's ambassador in The Hague Abdelouahab Bellouki, Head of the United Nations and international organizations' department at the foreign ministry Azzeddine Farhane and director of the national center of nuclear energy sciences and techniques (CNESTEN) Khalid Mediouri.

The Summit is part of the US administration's new diplomatic approach for the safety of nuclear and radioactive products in the world and facing nuclear terrorism.

Previous summits held in Washington and in Seoul underlined that the threat of nuclear terrorism is one of the largest challenges to international security and recognize the role of the IAEA in establishing nuclear safety safeguards.
