Morocco, 'strategic, indispensable' partner for Spain and EU, says senior Spanish official
Madrid - Morocco is an "indispensable and strategic partner" for Spain and the European Union (EU), Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Gonzalo de Benito said.

"Morocco is a strategic and indispensable partner for Spain and the EU and our goal is to strengthen the bonds of cooperation with this country in the framework of mutual respect and good neighbourliness", De Benito added.
Maintaining good relations with Morocco is part of Spain's foreign policy despite changes of political parties and governments, the Spanish senior diplomat noted.
Morocco is a "stable" country and a "model" for other Arab and Mediterranean countries, he added, expressing his country's gratitude to the Kingdom for its cooperation in fighting illegal immigration and terrorism.
De Benito also said Spain "welcomes and supports" the many reforms engaged in Morocco over the few past years which made the country an "exception" in the region.
