"I am visiting Morocco to invite the Kingdom to take part in the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum, slated for October 29-31 in London under the theme "A changing world, new relationships" Mr. Hitam told reporters after a meeting with head of government, Abdelilah Benkirane.

"Morocco's participation in this forum is very important to us, because the Kingdom is one of the few Muslim countries that place the citizen at the heart of economic development policies," said the former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister.

"At the World Islamic Economic Forum, we share the same values in terms of work for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah, and the participation of Morocco is important to share knowledge and exchange expertise in this area," Hitam noted.

More than 1,500 people (ministers, experts, businessmen ...) from 100 countries are expected to attend this event aimed to "strengthen trade partnerships between Muslim and European markets," organizers say.

The WIEF was organized for the first time in 2003 in Malaysia.SE MAP 031546 GMT Sep 2013
