Morocco: national health sector 48 hour strike expected 16 and 17 January
A 48 hour national health sector strike for 48 hours will be launched on 16 and 17 January, according to the National Health Federation affiliated to the Moroccan Labour Union (UMT) .

The strike was announced in a statement to protest against withholding salaries for strikers. It will cover the entire public health sector in the kingdom and all services except emergency services and intensive care, according to national media.
The first day of the strike will begin with a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Health.
The union said it is against restrictions on freedom of association for workers and the unilateral decisions of the government and the Ministry of Health, which have aggravated the situation in the health sector and caused resentment amongst workers,the statement said. This strike is of particular importance because it is the first time after the government's decision to withold the salaries of strikers.
