Morocco is assessing Swedish stance on Sahara issue, mulls over applying reciprocity principle, Official

Rabat - Morocco, while assessing the Swedish position over the Sahara issue, seriously mulls over taking similar measures in conformity with the principle of reciprocity, said on Thursday communication minister, government spokesperson Mustapha El Khalfi.
It has become necessary to take clear and firm measures regarding Sweden's hostile position, not only because of this country's attempts to recognize the "SADR" fake entity, but also due to the recurrent Swedish campaign to boycott Moroccan products in the southern provinces, as well as Moroccan companies and foreign enterprises with ties with Morocco and operating in the Sahrawi provinces, said El Khalfi.

He recalled the latest meetings between the Moroccan foreign minister and his Swedish peer in New York where "we voiced Morocco's firm condemnation and big concern over the dangerous developments of the Swedish position over the Moroccan Sahara issue."

The Swedish position, which runs counter UN resolutions, went beyond the Swedish territory and involved the EU where campaigns were launched to vote against EU-Morocco agreements, while inciting other countries to adopt the same position, said the minister at a press briefing after the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by head of government Abdelilah Benkirane.

In the light of this situation, which has been going on for years, the cabinet hopes that Sweden reviews its policy and positions on the national issue and its economic policy in this regard, "otherwise we will retaliate according to the principle of reciprocity," he added.
