Marrakech - Morocco is committed to continue its cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, notably in the field of public governance, said, Friday in Marrakech, minister delegate for Administration Reform and Civil Service, Mohamed Benabdelkader.

In a statement to the press at the end of his talks with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Liu Zehnmin, on the sidelines of the United Nations Public Service Forum, Benabdelkader noted that this meeting with the UN official provided an opportunity to confirm Morocco's commitment to continue its cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, especially in public governance.

"During our talks, I reminded the UN official that Morocco is an active member of the United Nations, whether through the participation of Moroccan contingents in peacekeeping operations around the world, and that the kingdom is also a key partner in efforts to combat climate change and in the strategy to counter terrorism and extremism. We are also working with the UN to implement our commitments regarding the fight against corruption," said the minister.

He added that Morocco cooperates with the United Nations in programs to improve the quality of public services and promote gender equality, in order to facilitate women's access to decision-making positions.

The minister also held talks with French Secretary of State to the minister for Action and Public Accounts, Olivier Dussopt, focusing on the means likely to implement the cooperation agreement recently signed between Morocco and France.
