Morocco in limelight of multinationals, thanks to political stability
Washington - Morocco is becoming increasingly popular among foreign investors thanks to the Kingdom's many assets, notably its "political stability" and "favourable legal environment for foreign investment", writes US daily Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to the latest WSJ frontier markets sentiment index based on a sample of around 200 multinational companies, Morocco jumped from 12th to 6th world's top frontier markets.
"Morocco's increasing popularity among corporations" is attributed to the Kingdom's "political stability, its favourable legal environment for foreign investment, the availability of skilled workers with wages much lower than those in the European Union, and its close proximity to Europe", David Wickham, London-based director for global frontier and emerging markets at HSBC told WSJ.
The British expert added that multinationals have also taken note of the fact that in 2012 auto manufacturer Renault invested ê1.3 billion in 300-hectare car assembly plant in coastal city of Tangier.
