"Morocco has become, under the wise leadership of the Sovereign, a model for neighboring countries in terms of political reform," Mr. Zingeris told the press on the sidelines of a conference organized at the headquarters of the U.S. Congress by the Parliamentary Forum for Democracy (PFD) on the occasion of the International day of Democracy.

Morocco "gave the example of a country that knew how to evolve peacefully towards democracy by relying on the principles of dialogue and tolerance," said Mr. Zingeris who is also chairman of the Parliamentary Forum for democracy.

In a similar statement, U.S. Congressman Edward Royce highlighted the "close links" uniting Morocco and the United States, emphasizing the need to give a new impetus to bilateral relations, especially in terms of investment and trade exchanges.

The U.S. Congressman Michael Grimm, for his part, stated that the Kingdom under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI has made a "great step forward" towards democracy when it has apprehended, longtime ago, the needs and aspirations of the people.
