Morocco calls for rapidly mending KSA-Sweden row

Rabat - Morocco called for a rapidly mending the row between Saudi Arabia and Sweden in favour of a normalisation of bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect and constructive cooperation, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The call was made during the reception of Sweden's Ambassador to Morocco at the headquarters of the foreign ministry in Rabat, the statement said.

During the meeting, the Swedish diplomat was briefed on the statement released by the Arab League following the Swedish statements on Saudi legislation which were deemed to be "far from being correct", said the foreign Ministry.

On this occasion, Morocco expresses solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and attachment to the respect of its religious, cultural and social specificities as well as the sources of internal legislations of each country, the same source added.

The differences in sources of legislation is part of the cultural diversity enshrined in international charters, underlines the statement.
