Morocco and Spain participate in a simulated nuclear emergency situation

Madrid: The Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Spain and Morocco involving the 25 and 26 April in a simulated nuclear emergency, carried out in the National School of Civil Protection in Algeciras, and to test operational response procedures and to analyze the coordination between the two countries in these situations.

The Spanish-Moroccan operation called Remex 2013 provides for a nuclear emergency that occurs in Tangier and Algeciras during the passage of the Strait of Moroccans resident Abroad ( MRE) and causing a radiological dispersal device, reports the EuropaPress site.

The opening of the simulation session was chaired by the Deputy Secretary to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Luis Aguilera. This simulation is organised and planned by the Directorate General of Civil and Emergency Preparedness, in collaboration with the Moroccan authorities and with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

As a reminder, Remex 2013 is the first Hispano-Moroccan simulation of  international character which is carried out in the framework of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism.
