Morocco and France determined to further cooperation, consultation on Mediterranean issue

Rabat - Morocco and France are determined to further bilateral cooperation and intensify consultations on the Mediterranean issue, minister delegate for foreign affairs Youssef Amrani said on Tuesday.

In a press briefing following a meeting with chairman of the European affairs committee at the French senate Simon Sutour, on a working visit to the Kingdom, Amrani hailed the model of successful strategic partnership between Morocco and France, based on the long-standing relations between the two countries, an ongoing political dialogue and a solid economic and human dimension.

This cooperation model is mirrored in the regular political dialogue between HM King Mohammed VI and president François Hollande, he added.

He commended the upcoming first Morocco-France parliamentary forum which will be an occasion to underline the excellent bilateral ties and promising prospects to enrich parliamentary cooperation.

He highlighted the continuous support by France for the Moroccan Sahara issue and called for mobilizing all levers of bilateral relations to back Moroccan top priority projects.

Simon Sutour described as fruitful and intense the talks with Amrani, highlighting the special partnership between Morocco and France.

He underlined the importance to forge ahead with the advanced status granted to Morocco. Referring to relations with the northern Mediterranean shore, he said that France wants to spearhead and further the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
