Morocco, an 'Example' of Good Practice in Management of Migration Flows (OECD Official)

Paris - Morocco is an "example" of good practices in the management of migration flows, thanks in particular to the "significant changes" introduced in its policy in this area, said, Thursday in Paris, Jean-Christophe Dumont, head of the International Migration Division at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Morocco's status has evolved, like most OECD countries, to become not only a transit country but also a host country for sub-Saharan African nationals seeking to join Europe, Dumont told MAP on the margins of an OECD high-level forum on migration and integration.

In view of this situation, Morocco has introduced "important changes" in its migration policy that have "made it possible to regularize" the situation of thousands of migrants (…), Dumont added, noting that this is "not an easy exercise".

He also pointed out that Spain, which holds the vice-presidency of the OECD Ministerial Conference on Migration and Integration to be held on Friday, "constantly reminds us of the excellent cooperation it has with the Moroccan authorities on migration issues", noting that the Kingdom "is an example of good practice that will be referred to in the ministers' discussions at this OECD meeting".
