Morocco adopted efficient policy in management of immigration, refugees affairs

Rabat - Morocco adopted an efficient policy in the management of immigration and refugees affairs which makes it a model for many countries in the region, said, on Thursday in Rabat, UNHCR regional director for MENA Amin Awad Abu Bakr.

The Moroccan approach for immigration and refugees issues has a worldwide scope and stems from international laws in force, the UN official told the press after a meeting with minister in charge of Moroccan expats and immigration Anis Birou.

In a similar statement, Birou underlined the close cooperation with the UNHCR, since the launch of immigrants' situation regularization in Morocco, to benefit from the UN expertize in the field.

Morocco made huge progress in refugees' issues management, he said, recalling that an exemplary draft law on the matter was finalized.
