Morocco, UK Launch Business Dialogue in London

London - The Morocco-UK business dialogue, which redefines the contours of British foreign policy in the wake of Brexit, was launched Monday in London, in the presence of a high-level Moroccan delegation.

The delegation, led by minister delegate to the minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mohcine Jazouli and composed of representatives of the Moroccan employers' association (CGEM), the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE), the OCP Group, the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN), Tangier Med, Casablanca Finance City (CFC), BMCE, and 54 capitals, presented the major sectors of common interest for the two countries, namely agri-business, renewable energies, industries, financial services, logistics and training.

A total of 116 Moroccan and 225 British companies took part in this important economic meeting, the aim of which is to highlight the trade and investment opportunities that the two countries have to offer.

The British side led by UK minister of State for International Trade, Conor Burns, as well as UK minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Andrew Murrison, for his part, presented the various investment opportunities between the two countries.

Organized jointly by the ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates and the CGEM, this business forum was also marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Jazouli and Burns to set up a joint working group to study ways of boosting investment between the United Kingdom and Morocco in their respective economies.

According to the delegate ministry in charge of African cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, annual trade between Morocco and the United Kingdom amounts to more than 18.3 billion dirhams, slightly less than 4% of total trade with the European Union in 2018.

Morocco exports about 8 billion dirhams to this country, making it its 7th customer and 11th supplier under the free trade agreement with the European Union.
