Morocco, Turkey Ink MoU in Environment

Rabat - Morocco and Turkey signed, here Thursday, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of environment.

Signed by Minister Delegate for the Environment, Hakima El Haite, and Turkish Environment and Urban Development Minister, Idis Gulluce, the agreement covers the areas of green economy, chemical waste management, wastewater treatment technologies, and integrated management of coastal zones. 
 
The agreement provides for consolidating cooperation between Morocco and Turkey and giving environment the place it deserves in bilateral ties in light of the importance of the natural capital in both countries and its impact on economic and social aspects, El Haite said.
 
Through this agreement, Morocco will benefit from the Turkish experience in a range of areas related to environment and sustainable development, notably the management of liquid and solid waste, integrated coastal zone management, fighting air pollution in urban areas, climate change and green economy, she added. 
 
For his part, Gulluce expressed his country's resolve to further develop its cooperation with Morocco, through an exchange of visits of technical and economic delegations from several areas of common interest. 
 
He also said that the memorandum, the first of its kind between the two countries, is in harmony with the international recommendations advocating the preservation of the planet against pollution.
