Morocco : Towards the launch of large solar plants

en .Lemag : Spain’s Abengoa and Saudi Arabia’s Acwa are indentified as finalists after the tenders for the construction of two solar facilities.

The first solar plant is indentified as a 200-megawatt plant and the second one as a 100 megawatt facility in the southern city of Ouarzazate.

Saudi Arabia’s Acwa has begun construction of a 160 megawatt plant in Ouarzazate.

France’s EDF has also been participating in the competition for the 100 megawatt solar facility.

The constrution of these major solar power plants would be financed by private investors as well as the World Bank and European Investment Bank.
