Morocco Takes Part in Ceremony Commemorating 70th Anniversary of Landing in Provence
Government Chief, Abdelilah Benkirane, attended Friday off Toulon the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the landing in Provence.

In a statement to the press, Benkirane underlined the contribution of Moroccan soldiers in this military operation and in the various battles of the World War II.

"For their bravery and sacrifices, Moroccan soldiers set the example for bravery and self-sacrifice and greatly participated in promoting the noble values of freedom and patriotism in Europe and the world," he said.

The ceremony was attended by World War II veterans who participated in the landing in Provence, including twelve Moroccan veterans who were honored Thursday in Paris by the French defense minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian.

In a speech on this occasion, French president Francois Hollande praised the decisive contribution of fighters from several African countries, including Morocco, in the landing in Provence.
