Morocco Seeks to Boost South-South Ties as Basis to Promote Peace, Security
The objectives of the partnership advocated by Asian and African countries are in line with the action taken by Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, which aims in particular to develop South-South relations as a vital basis to promote peace and security in the world, Mezouar told MAP, on the sidelines of his participation in the Asia-Africa Summit.

In this respect, the Minister noted that this summit, which coincides this year with the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Declaration and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Asia-Africa strategic partnership, is an opportunity to breathe a new dynamism to the principles of Bandung, notably brotherhood, solidarity, stability and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He added that the evolution of international news confirms the importance of these principles and the need to work for their dedication, noting that this theme is highlighted in the agenda of the summit.

Held under the theme "Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity", the summit is meant to share experience and strengthen partnerships, discuss strategies to overcome common challenges and boost economic development in both continents.

The Asia-Africa Summit is also an opportunity to reflect on the means to foster cooperation between Africa and Asia in various fields and ensure a better future, according to the spirit of the strategic Asian-African partnership signed in 2005 in Bandung.
