Morocco Reaps Benefits of Sustainable Water Management Policy Minister
Daegu - Minister for Energy, Mines, Water and the Environment, Abdelkader Amara presented at the 7th World Water Forum in the South Korean city of Daegu the merits of the Moroccan water management approach that ensures sustainability in addressing water issues.

Speaking at a ministerial conference held as part of the World Water Forum, Amara explained that Morocco's sustainable water management policy helped the country deal with the successive draught periods.

He added that sustainability will help the country meet the increasing demand for water that is estimated to reach 5 billion cubic meters in 2030.

Amara also shed light on Morocco's dam building policy which was launched in the 1960s under the leadership of Late King Hassan II.

Morocco now counts 130 dams with a total water storage capacity of 18 billion cubic meters, said the Minister.
