Morocco Ratifies Two Important IMO Treaties

Samedi 27 Février 2016

London - Morocco has ratified two important International Maritime Organization's treaties that help to protect the marine environment.
The Kingdom ratified the International Convention on Salvage (1989) and the 1996 Protocol to the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter (1972).

Lalla Joumala, Morocco's ambassador to the United Kingdom, met IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim at IMO Headquarters in London and handed over the instruments of ratification.

The Kingdom of Morocco was re-elected, on November 2015, to the IMO's Council, at the elections held during the 29th Session of IMO Assembly in London.

The Kingdom's re-election as a member of IMO governing body reconfirms Morocco's firm commitment to actively promote maritime security and safety, as well as the protection of marine environment.
