Moscow - Morocco is one of the safest tourist destinations in North Africa because of its political stability and efficient security vigilance, Russia's Ambassador in Rabat, Valery Vorobiev, said.
The evidence lies in the 2015 ranking by renowned Australian publisher "Lonely Planet", specialized in publishing guide books, which places Morocco among the top ten destinations in the world, he recalled in an interview with the Russian agency RIA Novosti, noting that tourism is a powerful lever for developing relations of economic cooperation between Morocco and Russia.
"When I receive an invitation to Europe, my answer is simply no. Why should I go, for example, to Spain while Morocco has beautiful sights like Tangier?", he said.
Vorobiev said that the suspension of air links between Russia, Egypt and Turkey will certainly push Russian tourists to choose Morocco as a pleasant destination for their holidays, pointing out that the number of tourists who visited Morocco in the first half of 2015 amounted to 4, 3 million people.
