Morocco-Mali-FAO sign tripartite agreement on agriculture

Marrakech - Morocco-Mali-FAO signed a tripartite agreement in the agricultural field, on Sunday in Marrakech, on the sidelines of the High-Level International Conference on South-South Cooperation.

Inked by agriculture and sea fisheries minister Aziz Akhannouch, Malian rural development minister Bokary Tréta and director general of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) José Graziano da Silva, the agreement seeks to share expertize and know-how related to agriculture and food security as well as techniques for productivity growth development.

Under this agreement, the Moroccan agriculture and sea fisheries ministry will assist its Malian counterpart in identifying, elaborating and implementing plans for agricultural development, food security amelioration and the fight against poverty.

Resulting Moroccan expenses will be paid by the Kingdom's trust fund put at FAO's disposal pursuant to an agreement concluded last April in Meknès.

FAO will provide technical assistance and supervision, and will coordinate South-South cooperation activities.
