Morocco: Government lifts ban on Amazigh names

Lemag: Now Moroccans wishing to name their newborns by Amazigh names have the right to do so.
Morocco: Government lifts ban on Amazigh names
Before Commissioners of the lower house of parliament, the Interior Minister Mohand Laenser, announced that under the constitutional principle enshrining the Amazigh language as an official language of Morocco, the government had authorised the appointment by names Amazigh.

Thus Laenser told parliamentarians that a generalised a note to the attention of the officers of civil status throughout the kingdom, intimating their order to give legally newborns,Amazigh names appointed by their parents.

Moreover, according to the Arabic daily Assabah, activist  in amazight movements expressed their satisfaction with hte news.
