Vendredi 22 Février 2013

In recent days, some Arab journalists have been visiting in Morocco. They met with members of the government, the Minister of Communication has even served as a guide during a trip to Dakhla. They concluded their stay in the kingdom by a meeting with Abdelilah Benkirane.
Morocco: Benkirane denies intention to Islamisize Society

The PJD has no intention to Islamize the Moroccan society. This at least was reassuring message from the head of government to the Arab journalists, visiting Morocco for over a week. According to the electronic version of the Qatari daily Achhark, Abdelilah Benkirane said his party can not in any way impose a dress code for girls or do the same with people by forcing them to follow the Islamic model. Realistically, the Secretary General of the PJD party was convinced that such practices "are neither right nor possible" now.

He went further, declaring that "the time to immunize companies is over." Sending the image of a very moderate leader, Benkirane has distanced himself from other Islamist groups currently in vogue in the region of the Arab Spring, insisting that "the people are in dire need of reform and aspire to obtain their rights. "

No link between the PJD and the Muslim Brotherhood

During this press conference, Abdelilah Benkirane  once again took the opportunity to remark that his party is not the local branch of the World Brotherhood Muslim Brotherhood, that  holds power in Egypt just after the fall the regime of President Hosni Mubarak. He  emphasized the specificity of the Moroccan Islamist movements. This is the same message from the head of government, which he proclaimed week ago.

Since its participation in the 12th summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, held in Cairo on February 7 and 8, and his meeting with President Mohamed Morsi,  the secretary general of the PJD is forced to play the fire and silence the accusations of a possible relationship between thePJD and the Muslim Brotherhood. That hispronouncements are always on the same subject shows that he has not been able to entirely dispel all the doubts about it.
