Moroccans Stranded Abroad: 289 Citizens Repatriated from Spain
Oujda-Angad airport - Some 289 Moroccans, including children and babies, arrived at Oujda-Angad airport on Friday on three successive flights from Madrid, operated as part of the repatriation of Moroccans stranded abroad due to the pandemic of the novel coronavirus.
The three flights, with 103, 101 and 85 people on board respectively, benefited Moroccan citizens who were stranded in the central region of Spain.
The operation was carried out in full compliance with the precautionary measures and the health protocol in force, under the supervision of the services concerned.
Upon their arrival, these persons, wearing their protective masks, were able to carry out customs formalities and retrieve their luggage in a smooth and orderly manner.
These citizens then boarded buses bound for a hotel in the city of Saidia, where they will be tested for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and confined in accordance with the health procedures in force.
In a statement to the press on this occasion, director of Oujda-Angad airport, Mohcine Benhaddouche, said that the repatriation operation was carried out in excellent conditions and with the assistance of all the services operating within the airport, under the health control of the ministry of Health.
Some 310 Moroccans, including 10 babies, stranded in Spain, were repatriated on Wednesday on three flights arriving in Tetouan from the region of Andalusia (southern Spain).
Next Monday, similar flights will benefit another 300 Moroccan citizens in the north-western region of Spain from Barcelona.
All these operations will follow the same health protocol, with testing for the virus on arrival and a nine-day confinement as part of the necessary medical follow-up, the aim being to ensure that these people will not constitute a danger to themselves or their families and neighbours.
In total, more than 900 persons will be repatriated, which represents an acceleration of the pace of repatriation operations that will soon be extended to other regions and countries.
