Moroccan-Panamanian Meeting on Development of Bilateral Relations

Rabat - Vice-speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun met, on Thursday in Rabat, with Vice-President of the National Assembly of Panama Tito Rodriguez Mena on ways to consolidate and develop bilateral relations.

According to a press release from the House of Representatives, Touimi Benjelloun recalled the series of reforms undertaken by the Kingdom in recent years and the important innovations that the Constitution of 2011 has brought in favor of upholding the rule of law, while bestowing a central role on the Moroccan Parliament which was turned from a simple authority into a legislative power enjoying its full prerogatives. Touimi Benjelloun also highlighted the progress that Morocco has experienced in the areas of human rights, the separation of powers, the independence of the judiciary, the consolidation of the representation of women and young people, in addition to the implementation of advanced regionalization as an ambitious project aimed at a balanced and integrated development of the country's different regions. Regarding the issue of the Kingdom's territorial integrity, Touimi Benjelloun recalled the Moroccan autonomy plan, presented by Morocco for the final settlement of this artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, under the aegis of the United Nations. For his part, Tito Rodriguez Mena said that his visit to Morocco is part of efforts to strengthen cooperation relations between his country and Morocco, in particular in the field of trade, recalling the firm will of the government of his country to consolidate relations of friendship and cooperation with the Kingdom.
