Moroccan FM meets Australian peer

Canberra - Moroccan foreign minister Saad Dine El Otmani held, Thursday in Canberra, talks with his Australian counterpart senator Bob Carr, on means to further strengthen cooperation relations in all fields, especially in agriculture, tourism, trade, cultural exchange, mining and oil exploration.

The two officials surveyed the various aspects of bilateral relations, welcoming the convergence of views, at the political level, on all issues of common interest.

They also discussed ways to strengthen the political dialogue between the two countries. In this regard, the two ministers discussed means to strengthen their coordination within the UN Security Council, of which the two countries are non-permanent members.

They also discussed regional and international issues of shared interest, including the situation in North Africa, Mali and Syria, stressing the need to uphold negotiations in conflict resolution.

With regard to the Sahara issue, Australia welcomes Morocco's efforts to find a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
