Minister Holds Talks with HRC President on Human Rights

Rabat - Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mbarka Bouaîda held, here Tuesday, talks with president of the Human Rights Council (HRC), Joachim Ruecker, on human rights in Morocco and the kingdom's experience in this field.

Both parties reviewed Morocco's experience in human rights promotion, notably the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, Bouaîda told MAP, adding that the UN official's visit to Morocco reflects HRC's interest in Morocco's reforms and efforts in order to promote human rights.

This meeting was also an opportunity to highlight Morocco's openness to HRC's procedures and confirm the participative approach that the kingdom adopts with the member states of this UN body.

For his part, HRC President said the meeting tackled human rights-related issues, expressing his satisfaction with the human rights situation in Morocco, a country which enjoys strong ties with HRC. 

Ruecker is paying a working visit to Morocco on October 19-21.
