Rabat - Chairwoman of the Mexican-Moroccan parliamentary friendship group at the Mexican Chamber of Deputies Maria Del Carmen Bautista Peláez called, on Tuesday in Rabat, for reinforcing her country's relations with Morocco. In a meeting with member of the House of Advisors' bureau Ahmed Touizi, Bautista Peláez highlighted the importance of Morocco as a gateway to the African continent, stressing the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the promotion and consolidation of bilateral relations between the Kingdom and Mexico.

Bautista Peláez, who is on a working visit to Morocco along with a Mexican parliamentary delegation, described the Kingdom's autonomy proposal as an "intelligent solution" to end the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, said a statement from the House. For his part, Touizi underlined the good relations between Morocco and Mexico, as well as countries of Latin America, recalling the historic visit of HM King Mohammed VI to the countries of the region in 2004 and the perspectives opened during this visit to further deepen relations of friendship and partnership, within the framework of South-South cooperation.
