Mauritania will export regional electricity

With proven reserves of natural gas from the Panda Gas Field, estimated at 1.2 billion m3, Mauritania will soon move into the area of electric generation .

Taleb Abdi Fal, Mauritanian Minister of Petroleum Energy and Mines, said in a speech at a conference on mines and oil in Nouakchott. He said his country with its large gas field will be dedicated to the production of 350 MW of electricity in 20 years, with a thermal production station costing $ 700 million.
 
He added that the excess production will be exported to Senegal and neighbouring  Sahel-Sahara countries.
 
Mauritania has extensive deposits of petro-gas,for power generation and  promises to be a future producer and exporter of energy, as local consumption is reduced, due to its small population reaching only 3,359,185 inhabitants according to statistics from the CIA.
