Maroc Telecom sale by Vivendi
Maroc Telecom is for sale! The French group holding 53% of its capital has begun discussions with Lazard and Credit Agricole to sell its majority stake in the capital of Morocco Telecom Group, the latest estimates worth 4 billion euros.

According to Le Figaro citing the Financial Times, the Emirates Group Etilasat and the Qatari Group Q.Tel are thought to be the highest bidders for the acquisition.

For analysts familiar with the matter, the issue of transfer of Maroc Telecom is a matter of great sensitivity on the Moroccan side, because of  the importance of the company on the domestic market and also the geopolitical role that the kingdom makes it  play, because Maroc Telecom holds majority stakes in regional operators in Mauritania, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Senegal where the Moroccan operator was awarded the prize, the golden cowrie, the continent’s highest performing company for the year 2012, awarded by the movement of firms in Senegal (MEDS).
