Mali welcomes Morocco's commitment to 'restore peace, stability' in the north of the country, Malian MFA

New York (United Nations) - Mali welcomes the commitment of Morocco, which is "not new" to "restore peace and stability" in the north of the country, said Wednesday in New York, Malian Minister of foreign affairs, African integration, and international cooperation, Abdouiaye Diop.

Morocco has "demonstrated willingness to assist Mali to restore peace and stability" in the north of the country, the Malian Minister told MAP, after a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Mali, welcoming the commitment of the Kingdom which has "experience and knowledge of the region," mainly thanks to "the long-standing bilateral relations."

"We believe that his contribution (...) can only reinforce and strengthen the process," he further said. The Malian Minister stressed the friendship ties between the two countries, noting, in this regard, the presence of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who is on a "current visit to the Kingdom" to attend the 9th International Agriculture Fair (SIAM).
