Mali: Mujao amputates the left foot and right hand of five suspected thieves in Gao
The Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (Mujao) , according to witnesses, cut off the left foot and right hand of a suspected thief, in Gao on Monday.

The punishment was executed in the public square, while four of the others were given the same punishment in private for robbery.
On 6 August the citizens of Gao prevented a public amputation by Mujao."Nobody can stop us from doing it" Mujao asserted according to a report from Xinhua.
In another incident,an al-Qaeda-linked commander known as the Emir of the Sahara, Nabil Makhloufi, an Algerian died in a car crash near Gao, an Islamist spokesman told AFP.
