Mali's Western allies are impatiently waiting for preparations for elections in 2013 so that the country can move forward united behind a new  legitimately elected government to face the challenge of liberating the north of Mali. Mali's elections were cancelled in April 2012 following the coup by the Junta which deposed President Amadou Traore. The internationalcommunity is also looking to the Malian government to provide a plan for negotiations with the Tuareg rebels in the North.

Cheick Modibo Diarra, whilst still supporting  the principle of a national conference, put forward another solution to hold a meeting of Malian MPs to approve the roadmap for military intervention in the north of Mali. This might also be acceptable provided it reflects a consensus of opinion in Mali.It has been a prolonged process to get a unified point view in Mali and France with yet another Frenchman taken hostage is more impatient than ever.

A Malian delegation is expected in Ouagadougou to meet with the MNLA on 3 December according to RFI.
