Mali: 13 Chadian soldiers killed and 65 jihadists in the Ifoghas mountains,

Thirteen Chadian soldiers were killed on 22 February in northern Mali in the Tessalit region, not far from the Algerian border. During the same operation about 65 jihadists were killed, according to Chadian military sources. Thiese are the first major casualties sustained by Chadian forces who had suffered two deaths previously .

A Chadian military source, said that French soldiers were positioned on the Algerian border and Chadian elements, which followed them were caught in the crossfire by jihadists.

French aircraft will be coming into action.Connoisseurs of the desert and analysts believe that the real war has begun, according to  RFI .The jihadists are increasing their guerrilla operations. In this same region, near Tessalit, a suicide bomber targeted an MNLA base at Khalil on Friday morning .  Two car bombs exploded and the MNLA two  ofits men were killed and two wounded. The two suicide bombers were also killed. The MNLA was attacked because they were cooperating with French forces, an MNLA spkesman told RFI.

On Thursday night, on behalf of all the jihadists, the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (Mujao) claimed responsibility for recent attacks perpetrated against the MNLA elements, combined with attacks against French and Chadian troops. Hostilities could even  be extended to other capitals in West Africa. In any case, the spokesman for  Mujao Abu Walid Sarhaoui said in a statement that suicide bomb attacks could be launched against Bamako, Niamey and Ouagadougou.
