"Morocco and the United Kingdom have maintained old relationships for more than 800 years," Lord Marland told MAP on the sidelines of a meeting on Wednesday evening in London on the opportunities and prospects for outsourcing UK and international companies in Morocco.

These relationships reflect "a wonderful friendship," the official said, noting that the economic and trade are below these relations, "a situation that should encourage us to redouble our efforts to strengthen our trade."

Meeting on outsourcing opportunities in Morocco, which is part of these efforts, helped to make known the advantages of this promising sector in Morocco, he said, calling it  "very positive" economic reforms introduced by Morocco in order to improve the investment climate and strengthen its competitiveness.

"Morocco, a country I have visited several times, continues to make significant progress on the path of economic development," said the former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, recently appointed in the influential pos of the  British Prime Minister's envoy for Trade.

The British official noted the climate of stability enjoyed by Morocco, "a dynamic country which has strengthened the  rule of law that the underlies economic development he affirmed."

"Extensive opportunities are available for British companies in Morocco," he noted, stressing that, as British Prime Minister Envoy for Trade, he set himself the goal of strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries by capitalizing on strategic relationships that bind the two Kingdoms.

Recalling the designation of Lord Sharman as British trade envoy to Morocco, Lord Marland said the initiative reflects the willingness of his country to promote what he called the  "twinning" between Morocco and the United Kingdom on the basis of common goals and ambitions.
