London congratulates Morocco on Human Rights progress
Rabat - Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Hugh Robertson welcomed on Monday Morocco's recent announcements of important progress on Human Rights.

"I warmly welcome the government of Morocco's announcement that the process to ratify the Optional Protocol for the Convention Against Torture will be completed imminently which I discussed during my visit to Rabat a fortnight ago," he said in a statement issued by the British embassy in Rabat.
"I also welcome Morocco's new commitments to investigate complaints of human rights violations made to the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) within a fixed 3 month deadline, and the definitive ending of Military Tribunal trials for civilians," he added.
Both initiatives are an important step forward and the government of Morocco is to be congratulated on this important progress towards meeting international human rights standards, he underlined.
