London and Rabat linked by strong partnership based on shared vision and values, Foreign Office

In a statement issued in London following his visit to Morocco, Alistair Burt, Under Secretary of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth in charge of MENA, said he was pleased with his stay in Morocco, the fourth this year, which marks the 800 anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UK and Morocco.

The two countries are linked by a strong partnership, based on shared values and vision for peaceful, secure and prosperous north Africa, he said.

He lauded the UK's support for reforms carried out in Morocco in different areas, as well as the close collaboration between the two countries on several international issues at the UNSC.

Morocco plays an important role at the UNSC based on its regional leadership, said Burt, giving the example of Morocco's input on the situation in Egypt and Syria.

Recalling his talks with the Moroccan officials, the British minister said there are huge business opportunities to lay the bases for a win-win partnership between Moroccan and British businesses.
