Libyan Prime Minister announces cabinet but his choices are seen as controversial.

Mustafa Abushagur has announced the members of his cabinet but his choices have not found favour with many National Peoples Congress members who say they were not consulted by Mr Abushagur especially those who had helped to vote him into office according to the Libya Herald. Manyof thoseappointed are unknown the paper reports.

Mahmoud Jibril of the NFP is said to have demanded 9 cabinet posts for his party including the post of First Deputy Prime Minister. Many National Congress members say that they were not consulted about the choice of cabinet ministers many of whom are relatively unknown.If the list of cabinet members is not approved by a majority of the 200 members of the Peoples National Congress Mustafa Abushagur will have until 7 October to finalise his cabinet and failing this he will have to step down as Prime Minister. A tough negotiation is likely to take place and some cabinet members on the list may have to be replaced, the Libya Herald says.

The list of cabinet ministers proposed by Mr Abushagur is as follows:

    3rd Deputy Prime Minister:  Saad Agila El-Obaidi
    Interior: Omar Aswad

    Finance: Abdullah Shamiya
    Economy: Mustafa Abu Fanas
    Oil & Gas: Al-Mabrouk Aissa Abu Harura
    Religious Affairs: Salem Abdullah Al-Sheikhi
    Martyrs & Missing Persons: Sami Al-Saadi
    Social Affairs: Summaya Mahmoud Baltief
