Libya's NTC Chairman Mustapha Abdeljalil visits Algeria.

The NTC Chairman Mustapha Abdeljalil met with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Monday and signed an agreement for a road map to boost bilateral cooperation and the two issued a joind communique reported APS.

The joint statement said that Libya and Algeria agreed to "to take action through the mechanisms governing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, after the meeting of the Monitoring Committee to conduct a comprehensive assessment of bilateral relations in various areas of cooperation, to set priorities, develop an action plan and draw basic objectives.

The roadmap signed on the Algerian side, by the Minister in charge of Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel and Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed M’hamed Abdelaziz,on behalf of the Libyan side, "aims to boost relations binding the two countries since 1969 and to rehabilitate them. "

Talks between the delegations of both countries, chaired by the Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci, the Algerian side, and Salem Kenane Messaoud, a member of the National Council of Transition (NTC), the Libyan side, were held Sunday at the residence Djenane El-Mithak on bilateral cooperation and border security issues.

The visit is part of the regular programme of diplomatic contacts to improve and consolidate relations between the two countries which were jeopardised by the dispute over Algeria's receiving members of the Gaddafi family and giving them refuge.

Mr  Mustapha Abdeljalil  indicated that he accepted Algeria's positon on the issue and that he accepted that Algeria would not harbour those who could harm Libya in any way. The positive engagement of the two countries is focusing on mutual concerns and the security of their borders.
