2. The meeting was devoted to the latest developments regarding the National Question in the United Nations, and especially initiatives aimed at distorting the mandate of MINURSO.

3. The meeting was an opportunity to reiterate the national consensus on the consistent position of Morocco to categorically reject these initiatives. When the Kingdom's efforts in the promotion of human rights throughout the country including the southern provinces - are hailed by the international community and many international partners, the bias this type of unilateral statement, without prior consultation, in terms of content, and process can only create misunderstanding and rejection.

4. Participants in the meeting expressed their concern about the consequences of such an approach on the ongoing negotiation process, as it breaks deliberately with the spirit of consensus that has always driven the search for a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution to the artificial regional dispute that, on the basis of realism and a spirit of compromise, the Security Council calls for.

5. Since its introduction in April 2007, the Kingdom of Morocco Initiative for Negotiating an Autonomy Statute for the Sahara region, the issue of human rights has been methodically exploited by other parties dispute to try to deflect the negotiation process and use it as an excuse not to engage resolutely and in good faith in seeking a political solution.

6. For its part, the Kingdom of Morocco has adopted proactive measures for the promotion and protection of human rights on its entire territory. It is in this context that fall, including strengthening the independence of national mechanisms for human rights and the enlargement of the opening of Morocco on the special procedures of the United Nations, thus meeting the expectations the international community and, in particular, the Security Council.

7. In any event, the Kingdom with the strong consensus of all the components of the Nation around the national unity and territorial integrity, remains confident in the wisdom of the members of the Security Council and in their ability to find formulas to preserve the political process and all significant and detrimental consequences for the stability of the region.
