Issa Hayatou re-elected in Marrakech for a seventh consecutive term at the head of the CAF

Marrakech: The only candidate, the Cameroonian Issa Hayatou was re-elected for a seventh term as head of the Confederation of African Football on Sunday, March 10 in Marrakech.

During the work of the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that started last night in Marrakech, Issa Hayatou, 66, CAF president since his first election in 1988, was reelected unanimously. However, he promised that this seventh term would be his last, state media reported.

It  was in Casablanca, March 10, 1988, that Issa Hayatou was elected to his first term as head of the CAF.
