Institut du Monde Arabe celebrates Algeria's 50th Anniversary with a mega-program

The fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Algeria will be celebrated from the 1st to June 25th in the heart of a mega-artistic and cultural program at the Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) in Paris.

The fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Algeria will be celebrated from the 1st to June 25th in the heart of a mega-artistic and cultural program at the Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) in Paris, officials  from the IMA said  on Friday .

This program, developed in partnership with the AARC (Algerian Agency for Cultural Outreach), Maghreb and France Televisions films, comes in three parts, the first will start early June with a cycle in the Algerian Humor "in  France and there ".

This cycle, scheduled from June 1 to 3, will reveal the talents of five Algerian or Franco-Algerian comedians, the first of which will be  Nouar Mohamed, a young beur, a native of Perpignan noticed lately in the room where  the likes of the late comedian Elie Kakou began.

 The actress Biyouna , who is already performing at the prestigious  Marigny Hall Theatre , will  also be in her amazing one woman show at the IMA. The Count of Bouderbala, mixing cynicism and self-deprecating, will conclude this round of laughter.

The Second highlight of this program, the 13th Music Festival at the IMA, which begins June 8, 13 groups who
excel in their genre will be led by s Rai, Modern, Chaabi and Andalusian. Blaoui Houari, Houari Benchenet, Mazouni Mohamed Mourad and Djaafri Thanina  are among the roster of artists that will brighten up the musical evenings of the IMA,  which will extend up to June 16.

The Last part of the program, Algeria in images, includes the release of nine films in the Auditorium of the IMA. This program will  focus on the colonial period, the Revolutionary War and the Algerian production from the 1960s to 1980s (Omar Gatlato by Merz ak Allouache, The Citadel and Mohamed Chouikh as the Outlaw  in Tewfik Fares).

A documentary film produced in 2012 by Ahmed Rachedi "End point" that embraces the history of Algeria from 1830 to 1962, will  also be broadcast on the occasion.

For the director of the cultural activities of the IMA, Mohamed Metalsi, the fiftieth anniversary of independence for "a country like Algeria deserves not only a commemoration, but also a strong cultural gesture."

While paying tribute to the comedian Mohamed Fellag, who sponsored the individual event, Mr. Metalsi told APS expect a "busy"  atmosphere for young audiences, the Festival of music, provided in front of the IMA, which can accommodate up to 8,000 spectators.
