Hosted by Hatem Bourial, this meeting will be an opportunity to reconsider travel to Mediterranean Szymanowski (between 1908 and 1914) including his stay in Tunisia, which has influenced the artist, writer and essayist in Polish writing several books for his operas as "The love songs of Hafiz" or "Songs of the passionate muezzin". TAP reports.

Growing up in a family environment open to the art world, his brothers and sisters doing all the music, painting, or poetry, Karol Szymanowski was initiated very early on piano (from age 7 years).

Entering in 1901 at the Warsaw Conservatory, he enjoys teaching one of the most illustrious masters of the time in this case Zygmunt Noskowski. Thus he met Arthur Rubinstein but also including musicians who form with him shortly after the group "Young Poland in Music" whose music is in this sense, contemporary, decidedly European and Western.

Captivated  by Austro-German Culture, Szymanowski undertook  long stays in Vienna and in Germany where he met such great success with his Symphony No. 2 Op.19 and Sonata No. 2 Op 21. He subsequently directed toward new aesthetic paths.

Seeking to enrich the discovery of ever more countries mirobolantes, Szymanowski made many trips over the years 1908-1914. He stayed in Italy and North Africa, including trips that influence in writing the libretto for his opera King Roger (Roger de Haute Ville) but also in France and described his fascination with the Orient, Mediterranean culture in its new "Efebos".

It should be recalled that the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean was organized October 14, 2011 at Ennejma Ezzahra Palace, in collaboration with the Polish Embassy in Tunisia, a musico-literary evening entitled: In the footsteps of Karol Szymanowski: a desire Orient. "The evening was hosted by journalist and columnist Hatem Bouriel (reading), Krystyna Makowska-Lawrynowicz (piano) and Anna Orlik (violin).
