INDH benefited over 4 million people over 2011-2014

Rabat - The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) launched 18,600 projects benefiting 4 million people during the 2011-2014 period, an INDH official said on Monday in Rabat.

The projects were implemented as part of the first four programmes launched by INDH, namely the transversal programme with 7,870 projects, the programme for the fight against poverty in rural areas with 6,381 projects, the programme to combat social exclusion in urban centers with 3,122 projects and the programme for fighting precariousness with 1,252 projects, the INDH official said during a meeting on the results of the INDH.

The implementation of these projects required a budget of 14 billion dirhams, in which the INDH contributed by 58%, the same source said, adding that the initiative helped create 4,300 revenue generating activities over the same period.

The INDH official noted that the main areas of intervention for the INDH were health with 1,470 projects and 340,000 beneficiaries, education (3,700 projects and 869,000 beneficiaries), drinking water (480 projects and 131,000 beneficiaries) and roads (1,890 projects and 510,000 beneficiaries).

Under the fifth programme on territorial upgrading, launched in the 2nd phase of the INDH, 34 villages were provided with drinking water, 256 water point were built along with 521 kilometers of roads and paths in addition to the electrification of 1,983 villages.
