Executive Director International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, warned on Friday that the institution would soon lower its growth forecast due to the worsening global economic situation
IMF: Lagarde says
"The outlook is, alas, became more disturbing during recent months," said Ms. Lagarde said in a speech in Tokyo, as part of a two-day visit to Japan which will be held in October the annual meeting of IMF and World Bank.

"Many indicators of economic activity - investment, employment, production - have deteriorated. And not just in Europe or the United States, but also in many key emerging economies: Brazil, China, India , "she said.

Consequently, the new global growth forecasts that the fund will publish in ten days will be "somewhat lower" than the latest in presented in mid-April, warned the CEO.

The IMF previously estimated a 3.5% global growth figure for 2012 and 4.1% for 2013. Pressed in a press conference to say more,Ms. Lagarde said that the new estimate would be "lower, without huge change" compared to that of three months ago.

Asked about the mixed reaction to these various annoncements in Europe, Lagarde noted that "as often, it takes some time for markets, investors and bankers to digest this type of  decison."
