IAEA: Moroccan delegation takes part in assessment meeting of Convex3 exercise

Vienna - A large Moroccan delegation representing various military and civilian officials in the field of security and civil protection took part on Tuesday and Wednesday in Vienna in the evaluation meeting Convex3 exercise, jointly organized by Morocco and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The event is an international evaluation exercise simulating a radiological emergency initiated by a malicious act, which took place on November 20-21, 2013 in Rabat, said a statement from the Embassy of Morocco in Vienna.

The exercise, dubbed "Bab Al-Maghrib", aimed to test and strengthen the capacity of Morocco and international organizations involved in the preparation and response to radiological and nuclear emergencies due to criminal or terrorist acts.

The opening of this evaluation meeting was chaired by IAEA deputy director in the presence of Ambassador of Morocco in Vienna, Ali M'Hamedi, director of the department of international organizations and the UN at the Ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation, Azzedine Farhan, representatives of international organizations concerned (IAEA, WHO, ICAO, EU, WMO), and representatives from Norway, France, Australia, India and the United States.
