Guterres hails Morocco's efforts in brokering budget compromise
Geneva - The High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres hailed Morocco's "outstanding contribution " as rapporteur of the Executive Committee of the UN agency, " by making a compromise on the draft budget possible after a long blockage."

"I want to express our gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco, which has done a remarkable job within the executive committee," said Guterres, speaking in Geneva on Friday after the adoption by consensus of the budget of the 2014 -2015 period.
Morocco sits on the Executive Committee of the UNHCR as rapporteur member state since 2007 and ensures the coordination of the African Group in the UN agency.
On Thursday, the highest organ of the UNHCR had highly praised the initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on migration and asylum, stating that the Moroccan approach is "in line with the challenges of refugee protection."

Morocco, Catalonia decide to strengthen their cooperation in field of administration
Rabat, Oct 04, 2013 (MAP) - An agreement was signed, on Friday in Rabat, between Morocco and the autonomous region of Catalonia (North-eastern Spain), aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of administration.
The agreement, which covers the modernization of the administration, in particular regionalization, decentralization policy and improving the quality of public service, was signed by the Minister of Public Service and Administration Modernization , Abdeladim El Guerrouj, and Mrs. Joana Ortega Alemany, vice-president of the autonomous government of Catalonia and Minister of governance and institutional relations within the Generalitat.
"This agreement falls within the framework of cooperation with Morocco for optimal training of elected and civil servants to support the democratization process, undertaken in Morocco," Mrs. Ortega Alemany told the press.
The signing of this agreement reflects the deep relations between Morocco and Spain and especially Catalonia, said El Guerrouj.
"Spain, particularly the Catalonia region, is one of the models that we follow closely in order to build our scheme of decentralization of administration and improve the quality of services to citizens," added the minister.
