Guinean Official Says Morocco, Source of Spiritual Light for Africa
United Nations - Morocco is a source of spiritual light for Africa and Guinea that has been, for centuries, attached to the Maliki rite, Guinea's Secretary General of Religious Affairs, Abdallah Jassi, said Tuesday.

Guinea is committed to the way Islam is applied in Morocco, a religion accompanied by development that comprises the whole Moroccan people, condemns violence and advocates tolerance and brotherhood, he told MAP on the sidelines of a high-level meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee on "Countering Incitement to Commit Terrorist Acts Motivated by Extremism and Intolerance: the Kingdom of Morocco's Approach and Experiences of other African States".

Hailing the Royal initiative to train Imams from African countries, including 500 Guineans, Jassi called for promoting training and cooperation in the religious field because terrorism cannot be defeated without long-term projects that will educate children and youth and immunize them against this phenomenon.

The Counter-Terrorism Committee will hold an open briefing on "Countering Incitement to Commit Terrorist Acts Motivated by Extremism and Intolerance: the Kingdom of Morocco's Approach and Experiences of other African States" in the ECOSOC Chamber, United Nations Headquarters, on Tuesday.
