Green Morocco Plan: Launch of 112 projects in 2013

112 projects are programmed in the Green Morocco Plan and will be launched in 2013 with an investment of 1.62 billion dirhams benefiting 30,000 people in rural areas, said the head of government.

Mr Abdelilah Benkirane, responding to a question on the development of rural areas in the monthly meeting dedicated to issues related to policy, said that 319 projects are included in the Plan and  are already well underway, mainly as regards the fixed part of agriculture.
 
These projects include the replacement of cereal crops with other more productive crops and more labour to work on fruit trees and local products, he added.
 
The head of government said that these projects represent 58 percent of projects planned for 2020, adding 10.3 billion dirhams will be mobilized for this purpose for the benefit of 471,000 beneficiaries over an area of ​​611,000 ha.
 
According to Mr. Benkirane, development programs will also be launched in oasis areas for the argan tree, which relates to the renewal of the oases and the argan forests, improving the quality of trees planted and the recovery  of products and to promote their commercialisation.
 
Several projects have been introduced in this direction in 2012 at a cost of 390 million dirhams, he said, adding that the National Agency for the development of oasis zones and Argan forests will implement a series of projects in 2013-2016  requiring an investment of 3 billion dirhams.
 
 He noted that the interest in rural development gained momentum through the programs of the National Initiative for Human Development to improve the population's access to basic services such as health and education, water and electricity, and support for social, cultural and economic (creation of cultural centers, libraries, stadiums, cooperatives ...) as well as the fight against poverty through the creation of 'income-generating activities.
 
As part of the second tranche of NHRIs (2011-2015), the number of rural communities targeted was revised upwards to o 702 against 403 in the common framework of the first phase, he said.
